Puppy Hospitalized with Pneumonia

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Lyndsay and I adopted this sweet puppy, Wednesday, back in October from a family that didn't have time to care for her. She came to me with a series of medical issues (breathing problems, on-going bloody diarrhea, skin lumps). I've since worked closely with her vets to get all of these issues resolved, and she finally was able to enjoy a healthy/comfortable life. That is, until recently...

Approximately 3 weeks ago I noticed cloudy nasal discharge coming from her nostrils. Thinking it might have been an infection from her recent airway surgery, I started her on a round of doxycycline (antibiotic for respiratory infections). After a week, there was little improvement, so I went back to the vet to start her on another round. This went on for 3 weeks, with no improvement. I was about to schedule another follow up appointment when things suddenly went very wrong. On 1/19 I put her to bed as I normally do, and she showed no signs of discomfort other than the nasal discharge. But at 12am on 1/20, I was awaken by the saddest cries I've ever heard come out of her. I went to comfort her and put her back to bed, but what I found was a dog who was weak, shaking and hunched over.

I took her out of her bed and walked her down stairs. She then vomited. After waiting to see if her stomach would settle, I took a look at her gums, which had started to turn white, and I knew she was having trouble getting oxygen. I immediately rushed her to the closest ER where they did a series of x-rays and tests and finally admitted her with a diagnosis of pneumonia (see pictures of her x-rays).

I can't tell you the fear that came over me (and that I still have)! I've been hearing about a mystery virus going around that suddenly turns into deadly pneumonia, and being that hers came on so quickly, I fear this might be what she caught. She's currently been hospitalized for days with round-the-clock treatment, and I am just a wreck without her. I will do whatever it takes to treat her, but the bills are also racking up, which is why I'm asking for help from anyone who has the means. Yes, even $5 helps.

The current hospital estimate is between $3328 - 5676 (attached) with the lower end only being quoted for 1 day of hospital care. She's going on her 3rd day there and I've already charged over $4400 to my credit card (payment confirmation attached). Plus they informed me that if/when she is released, she will likely still need home care with meds and X-rays. I do have insurance on her, but looking at her policy, it seems they only cover $780 for pneumonia (HOW?!?!). I've attached the Nationwide policy payment schedule, as well.

If you have the means, please help my sweet Wednesday. We want to get her home and healthy. Her brother (Remy) and I miss her very much. Thank you so much for your consideration. I truly appreciate any and all help here. <3
