Hi my name is Louise and I’m hoping to raise funds to pay for an Ultrasound scan and then potentially a heart operation for Dylan, my friends Cockerpoo puppy.
Dylan was bought as a therapy dog for my friends 6 year old daughter who has autism.
Dylan is only 5 months old and my friend found out after only having him for 2 weeks that he had a congenital heart condition.
This causes his heart to beat rapidly, he is very lethargic, coughs a lot and is failing to put weight on. He is basically in heart failure :(
Dylan has been prescribed medication to slow his heart rate down but it will not cure him and he still has a short life expectency :( These regular check-ups and medication prescriptions are costing in the region of £80 per week.
Dylan was not insured at the time the condition was discovered, and now getting him insured with a life-threatening condition is proving difficult and very costly.
However, Dylan can have an Ultrasound Scan to determine whether or not he is suitable for surgery which will fix his faulty valve.
The cost of the scan has been quoted at around £400 and the operation (if he is eligible) up to £3000!!!
Dylan is not only much loved as a family pet but very much needed as a therapy dog and has developed an incredible bond with my friends daughter. Dylan is the sweetest puppy who gives the best cuddles (I know thats me with him in the pic!) and I want to do everything I can to give him the best chance at surviving and living a full Life, with a little girl who loves him very much!
We are looking round to see if we can get his treatment cheaper and for insurance options but time is of the essence and I know so many of my friends who are dog owners themselves will understand the need to try absolutely everything we can to help.
There may be a waiting list for the scan so initially I'd like to raise enough to cover the cost of the scan and 2-4 weeks of check ups and meds. Then fingers crossed, if he can have the operation, I'd like to go on to raise enough to cover that too!
If you can spare even a pound, it all helps and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
