In January 2019 my mom, Dawna Stephenson, recieved a life-changing diagnosis - Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She went through months of chemo, and, in August, we all celebrated her officially being in remission.
In January 2020 she, again, recieved some bad news. There were some abnormalities in her bone marrow biopsy...her leukemia was coming back. Her doctor now recommended a bone marrow transplant and started the process of looking at family and others for a matching donor.
After a few weeks she began having excruciating pain in her back and head. Her doctor, as a precaution, decided to do a lumbar puncture to rule out leukemia in her spine/brain. It came back positive. Her leukemia has metastasized.
She now has to go to UC Davis to have chemo injections into her spine. The hope is that the chemo will quickly get rid of the cancer in her spine and brain so that she can then get the bone marrow transplant that was already planned.
Not only are there MAJOR medical expenses, there are travel and food expenses, and, futuristically, after the transplant, she and a care-giver will need to stay at a B&B or hotel in Sacramento for two to three months in order to be near the hospital in case of an emergency.
If you are able to help financially we would really appreciate it. If you can't your prayers and good vibes are just as important.
