Pumpkins Disability Dog Walk 2025
Who are we?
We are a family living in Lincolnshire England. A working family with two children, all massive animal lovers, they are our passion. In Oct 2021 our family adopted a paralysed puppy called Pumpkin. Pumpkin was a tiny 8 week old West Highland Terrier, she was given to a rescue. We instantly fell in love with her. We knew we had to help her. 6 local vets were against us and wanted to PTS. They said keeping her alive was cruel and unethical. I knew they were wrong and my fight began I made an appointment with a veterinary specialist and started to fundraise to save Pumpkin. Unfortunately an MRI scan reviled that her spine had been broken through extreme trauma . Pumpkin doesn't feel pain or any sensations from her waist down. She is also double incontinent, so wears a nappy.
We as a family give Pumpkin a wonderful life, full of adventures and fun. We will always do everything best for her, making sure she remains happy. We love her so much, she is part of our family.
Pumpkin is now a Disabled Dog Advocate, raising awareness all over the world . We registered her charity June 2022. She has raised over £300,000 and has helped over 1800 animals with disabilities. When assessing an animals suitability, we treat each animal as an individual. We assess each animal's needs and medical wellbeing as part of our overall assessment process. Animals are at the forefront of this charity's aims and so we make sure our intervention improves quality and prolongs life.
Pumpkin & Friends Charity wants to continue to help more animals.
We started this charity to help disabled animals, all animals!! To raise awareness of how inspirational they are. To save them from being PTS We are extremely proud of the fantastic charity we have built and the relationships and bonds with other charities & rescues we have. Running a charity or legitimate animal rescue is a never ending battle, it's a tough, emotional rollercoaster. We wish more charities/rescues would work together and help one another. Instead of trying to pull them down and abuse them! It's about the animals, not our egos!!
Unfortunately we have learnt the hard way, the beginning of our journey was tough. Our enthusiasm and passion was abused by certain people that took advantage. (when I publish a book I'll let you all know). But we have learnt to STAY IN OUR OWN LANE- THERES LESS TRAFFIC!!!
We want to say thank you for all of the support and love our charity receives, we love you all ❤️
It's incredible how much people believe in us and want to help.
The charity has always been transparent and will always continue to be this way.
In those 2 years we have helped 1800 'wheelie good friends' providing wheelchairs, strollers, rebilhation and veterinary costs. Offering a safe and friendly community for disabled animal owners.
We started this charity to help disabled animals, all animals!! To raise awareness of how inspirational they are.
Team Pumpkin are an incredible group of people that are slowly changing the world
Having a disability isn't a death sentence!!!
In 2025 our aim is to open 'Pumpkin and friends animal retreat and respite centre' - #Pumpkinpower
