EVENT DETAILS:
The inaugural ‘Pump the Pedals for Prostate Cancer’ is a virtual ride using two bikes to ride 1000km continuously organised by the Monash Health Urology Department.
It takes places on 12th/13th September to coincide with International Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the Tour de France.
OUR STORY
· Care of prostate cancer patients is now streamlined with the new Monash Health Prostate Cancer Pathway
· Proceeds will support this pathway by enabling us to purchase of specialised Ultrasound probes which will avoid delays in diagnosis of Prostate Cancer
· More probes = less waiting time for biopsy
· 3 ultrasound probes allows us to biopsy 5X times more patients
· Australia’s 1st Survivorship Clinic means all Prostate Cancer patients have consistent and supportive follow-up care with regard to Prostate Cancer outcomes and the unwanted associated sequelae of incontinence, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease and psychological affects of the process.
· Donations will fund a Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse for the Survivorship Clinic
· Monash Health Urology is committed to being at the forefront of cancer research. Our Monash Health Urology Research Team is currently involved in cutting edge clinical and scientific research in the field of urology.
