Brenda Santiago was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis 18 years ago. Unfortunately, her MS has been unresponsive to medications and treatments and has progressed rapidly. As a result, Brenda has lost her physical independence and suffers constantly from pain, spasms, stiffness, and loss of mobility in her muscles, nerves, and joints. The list of symptoms that Brenda endures on a daily basis is too long to list here. Recently Brenda’s health took a turn for the worse and she spent 6 weeks in hospital.
Brenda’s life has always been marked by service to others. Apart from her career as a speech pathologist for special needs children, she also volunteered for many years with Royal Family Kids Camps (RFKC, Inc) - a network of camps, and child mentoring for abused, abandoned and neglected children in the foster care, system. Brenda also inspired many of us as she sang with all of her heart - Sunday after Sunday for almost 2 decades, first with the choir and then with the worship team at her church. Unfortunately she is no longer able to do any of the above. However she consistently shows love and concern for everyone around her. Brenda always has a kind and encouraging word, and she is always reminding those who need to hear it, that Jesus loves them.
In spite of Brenda’s extreme physical and emotional pain, her spirit of hope and her trust in God continue to amaze everyone around her. Brenda often says that she gets through each day by taking her pain and disappointment to God, and relying on His love and grace to get her through. While her independence and freedom have steadily decreased, her ability to light up a room with her love and laughter remains the same. She is truly a trophy of God’s grace and beauty.
The reason I am reaching out to everyone, is that Brenda is now dealing with another area of stress - on top of all that she already has to endure. But.... this symptom is one that, hopefully, we can relieve!
Over the past few years, Brenda's medical costs have been rising, especially as many of her treatments had to be paid ‘out of pocket.’ And as I’m sure you will agree - Brenda should not have to deal with the worries of financial debt, on top of her daily physical battles.
So Pleeease use this opportunity to help the most truly deserving woman imaginable.
I am hoping to raise 30K to help Brenda with the following:
· Hospital Bills
· A new medication that her medical team recommend (that it not covered)
· An Electronic Wheel Chair and Home handicap equipment (not covered)
