Pulling for Trey

Trey’s life forever changed when he suffered a massive stroke on Monday, June 14th 2021.

On Monday, June 14th 2021 Trey suffered from a massive stroke at his home that early morning.  He did not report to work nor respond to his manager’s inquiries throughout the day, which was very unlike Trey.  Therefore, his manager reached out to our father, and it was at that time, Tuesday at 12:30p.m., that we found Trey at his home on the floor, unresponsive.  It was quickly determined that Trey suffered a massive stroke from a clot in his brain and the hospital worked to stabilize him and his heart.  He was quickly flown out to Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC; where they also discovered that Trey had thrown a second clot in his arm and performed emergency surgeries on his left arm to remove the clot so he did not lose his arm along with an emergency Craniotomy on his head to assist with the brain swelling and bleeding.

Trey’s stroke was apparently 1/3 of his brain (on the left side of his brain) and it left him paralyzed on the right side and unable to speak.

He remained in ICU for  4 weeks.

The initial prognosis for Trey’s recovery was very grim. However, Trey is proving that wrong. Now, due to his incredible doctors, fighting
spirit and the grace of God, his recovery has already far exceeded what anyone thought was possible. His speech is improving every day, he has regained partial use of his right arm/leg, he can hold short conversations and that joyful sense of humor we all know and love is slowly  returning. Trey now realizes what happened to him. Although it has saddened him to realize his current medical condition, he is fighting         and is motivated to get better.

The next stage in his fight has taken him to a rehabilitation center. The family has been advised there is a long road ahead. For the foreseeable future, Trey will need regular therapy (including speech, cognitive, occupational and physical) and constant care. He will require at least one more surgery to reattach his skull along with countless doctor appointments. Trey’s medical bills are already growing rapidly. While we are hopeful that Trey can one day be healthy enough to work again, he has a very long way to go.

The medical research is clear – stroke patients experience their most significant recovery with intense therapy during the first 12 months after their stroke. Therefore, treatment must be aggressive and includes the expensive therapy regimen.

Trey needs your help to cover these expenses. This is why it was decided to create this GoFundMe campaign. 100% of the donations received will go to Trey’s care and recovery. We all want to see the return of that fun-loving guy that would do anything to help a friend, put on a performance for the community or bring music to the party!

Thank you for loving and praying for Trey!
