PULLIN FOR THOMAS

On May 17th, Thomas and a friend were involved in a severe motor vehicle accident. Thomas sustained broken ribs, transverse spinal fractures at the base of his neck, a lacerated liver, a fractured scapula, a fractured pelvis, and damage to the posterior frontal lobe of his brain.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Thomas’s condition required an ambulance ride to Southside Community Hospital for triage, a MedFlight to UVA’s Trauma Center, surgery to repair a fractured hip, an extended stay of over 4 weeks in the ICU, countless procedures. Thomas is now fighting a blood infection that causes him to have fevers on and off. As soon as he recovers from this hopefully he can be transported to a neurological rehab care facility for individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries. The length of his stay at a neurological rehab center will depend on how quickly he progresses, but could be anywhere from 3-6 months. At the Neurological rehab center Thomas will receive the treatment and therapies he needs to recover to the best of his abilities.
