So for those of you know me know that my dogs are literally my children. For those of you that don't know me Shadow is a six year old rescue and true to the saying he rescued me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time at 30 and I was ready to give up. Shadow came into my life through an old string of connections and gave me my life back. He made me get out of bed and smile, eat and move around, a reason to fight. If it wasn't for Shadow I'm not sure I would be here today. Now I'm doing the same for him! Here's what he's been going through.
A little over a week ago Shadow got sick like a normal dog. I won't go into the details but those that have had a pet I'm sure can imagine. We did the B.R.A.T. diet and it seemed fine. It wasn't until he stopped eating we first went to the vet. They gave fluids, anti nausea medication, and an appetite inducer. Three days we went to our regular vet where they kept him for the day. That night he moved to AniMerge where he spent three days with test, scans, plasma injections, more scans and tests. A few days later they sent him to NorthStar where they have an internal medicine specialist. They continued his treatments of the symptoms trying to figure out the cause with more tests and scans along the way. He seemed to be getting better and was able to come home, a full week after first leaving me and his sister. He was doing better! He started to eat whole slices of cold cuts and some of my cooking. Everything seemed to be on the mend until it wasn't. He started to get sick again so we called the doctors and they took him off one of his six medications. It didn't work. So last night we went back when he was not eating again and visibly uncomfortable.
At this point he needs an endoscopy which will take biopsies to hopefully finally figure out what is reeking havoc on his body. The scope alone can be up to $3,000 not including the hospital stay, IV fluids, and treatments. Doctors still do not know what is wrong but we are not giving up hope! Any contribution given will go directly to his many medical bills and future treatments. Any help is greatly appreciated and together we can help save Shadow!
