Hi, my name is Stacey, and I'm writing this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Lisa.
Lisa is a single mom of two amazing kids, aged 12 and 15. She is currently fighting stage IV colon cancer with metastasis to her liver, facing this battle largely on her own.
Over the past month, Lisa has been recovering from open liver surgery, which has been a long and extremely difficult recovery. As she continues to heal, she is now preparing to begin aggressive chemotherapy and targeted therapy starting January 26.
Lisa lives in San Diego, while the rest of our family and her closest friends are all in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, she does not have a local support system where she lives and has been navigating surgeries, cancer treatment, recovery, and parenting almost entirely by herself.
Before her cancer diagnosis, Lisa worked part-time to supplement her disability income. Since her diagnosis and surgeries, she has been unable to work and will not be able to return to work until some time after treatment. As a result, she has fallen behind on rent and essential bills, including car payments and car registration. Her car-which she relies on to get to treatment appointments and care for her children-also needs repairs that she cannot currently afford.
To make an already stressful situation even harder, Lisa was recently notified that her rent will be increasing by nearly $200 per month. With rising gas costs for frequent treatment days, medical-related expenses, everyday living costs, and the needs of her children, she is struggling to stay afloat during one of the most challenging times of her life.
Lisa's focus right now needs to be fighting cancer, continuing treatment, and being present for her children-not on the constant fear of losing housing, transportation, or financial stability.
Any support you're able to give will go directly toward medical and treatment-related expenses, rent, utilities, transportation and basic necessities for Lisa and her children. If you're unable to donate, sharing this page would help more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read Lisa's story and for supporting her during this incredibly difficult fight.
