Pug Rescue Victoria Fundraiser for Urgent Funds

It's Momo here friends (formerly paralysed puggy and current Pug Rescue Vic volunteer).

We at Pug Rescue Vic seem to be in a bit of trouble. Like many rescues in Australia right now we are facing an unprecedented demand for surrenders whilst also having little to no demand for adoptions. We currently have 20+ puggy friends listed up for adoption and another twenty or so on the wait list for life-changing surgeries.

With adoptions at a standstill this means that we are running out of funds fast and desperately need help. Although we have applied for a government grant for $6500 we are 124th on the list and may need to wait 5+ months to receive it.

We currently are unable to pay our vet bill at Knox Veterinary Clinic which is over $10,000.

Our current wait list for pugs already with us as of 1st of Feburary 2023 includes:

At least 4 Major Dentals - $1500 each
8 X specialist airway surgeries - $2000+ each
1 Cataract surgery - $4000+ each eye
6 x Luxating patella surgery - $3000 + each knee
2 x Entropian Eye - $3,000 each
1 x Ear and scope flush $1500+
1 x Castration Desex $200
1 x Spay Desex $350

As well as housing 40+ pugs we are also still getting a high number of surrenders so this estimate is bound to go up. The majority of pugs coming into care will require thousands of dollars in surgery, treatment and extensive behavioural rehab before adoption.

This doesn't include other day-to-day costs involved in running our rescue including specialist vet appointments, ear cytology, ear drops, antibiotics, eye drops, vaccination, microchipping, worming and flea treatments, medication, food, beds, bowls, shampoo, leads, collars etc.

We know this is a very tough time for all animal rescues and humans in general at the moment and would greatly appreciate donations of any size as every dollar helps.

To give an example -$15 will help with microchip change of ownership transfer -$20 will help with worming costs -$50 will help with transportation costs – $90 will help with a month's worth of sight-restoring eye drops -$100 will help with vet check and vaccination -$200 will help with an eye specialist appointment -$600 will help with desexing, vaccination and microchip transfer -$1500 will help with major dental -$2,500 will help with airway surgery

Donations can be made through this GoFuneMe, via bank deposit, Paypal, Cryptocurrency and My Cause.

PUG RESCUE & ADOPTION VICTORIA INC. is an animal welfare charity dedicated to helping pugs and flat faced dogs. We have been rescuing, rehabbing and rehoming for 10+ years and are operated entirely by a community of dedicated unpaid volunteers with a foster network of family homes.
As one of the first foster rescue groups we have been a driving force behind the changing face of animal welfare in Victoria & Australia over the past decade.
We rely on donations to go above & beyond in our work.
