As we all know Puerto Rico has suffered a catastrophic event. Maria has torn through this once beautiful picterous island and has destroyed it. Many people on the island are in great need.
If you think you are informed on what’s happening on the news. Unfortunately, we are not. Things in Puerto Rico are much worse than they are showing and sharing, and the people will only continue to grow more desperate. We need your help! Many Cville residents have family and friend who live on the island and we went to help in anyway we can. Can you please help us help them?
We have started the collections of items requested and needed items, but will need assistance with cost for the shipments. We will also need funding for the volunteers who will be traveling to Puerto Rico in October to receive and deliver the donated goods. Please know these are volunteers who will, be using vacation time, leaving their own families, with no pay or compensation to help other families in need.
Puerto Ricans are American and our fellow Americans need our help!
My name is Elizabeth Conde Alvarez, I am a nurse practitioner at UVA medical center. I have organized a team of volunteers that includes medical personnel and will be traveling to Patillas, PR on November 2nd-9th. With your donations we have purchased a shipment container and are loading it with all the donated supplies we have been collecting. Monetary donations are helping to pay for the shipping of the 40’ container. We hope we can make this one shipment of many. Wit’s left over funds I will purchase other items of need; chainsaws, medicine, gas tanks and gas. Please continue to give what you can. Every $1 counts!!
