PUCS 2 and 3 Grade - Forest Fundraiser!
During our Forest Unit, we spent time exploring different kinds of forests. We ended our unit learning about deforestation and The Greenbelt Movement in Kenya, which works to stop this harmful practice. Keep reading for a description of our learning written by the 2nd and 3rd grade students.
Wangari Maathai was a good person who gave to her village in Kenya alot. She traveled to the United States and when she got back to Kenya a lot of the trees were gone. Then, she decided to start planting trees by starting The Greenbelt Movement in Kenya and she got other women to plant trees with her. Wangari Maathai never gave up and she won a Nobel Peace Prize for helping the world. Would you like to help Wangari’s Greenbelt Movement?
Forests are very important for animals! Plants and trees give animals food. Some animals eat the leaves. These protect animals from predators and give them fresh air. Sometimes animals go under trees for shade. Help us plant trees in Kenya by donating to our GoFundMe page!
