On March 23rd, 2015, 9 year old Vinnie Schenone collapsed after recess at school, and needed to be revived by teachers and paramedics as he suffered an episode due to a pre-existing heart condition he was born with. Vinnie suffers from a condition known as cardiomyopathy. This condition makes it hard for the heart to deliver blood to the body, and can lead to heart failure.
Symptoms include breathlessness, swollen legs and feet, and a bloated belly. Vinnie unfortunately over exerted himself and was rushed to memorial hospital in Santa Rosa, CA before being airlifted to Stanford medical. He is currently in stable condition but is going to need surgery on his heart and insertion of an IDC to hopefully prevent this from ever happening again. Fortunately, Vinnie's life was saved due to the fast actions and assistance of Evergreen Elementry staff members and students. It is truly a miracle that Vinnie is here with us today. If at all possible, the family is in need of financial assistance at this moment and any money donated to help offset the medical expenses would be forever appreciated. If you can not afford to donate, please just send positive thoughts and prayers to this young man, and find the time to learn CPR as you never know when it may save someone's life. Vinnie and his family are forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support throughout the community, and to all the medical professionals and people involved in saving Vinnie's life, words cannot express our gratitude. Thank you all so very much.
