Publish the story of Commitment for young people

Donation protected
In 1994 McGraw-Hill published a 1st Grade Basel Reading book about my historic (First black man to sail around the world solo via the Southern ocean and Cape Horn) voyage. This book went to schools across the nation. There are now young people who would gain a new meaning of commitment, dreams, courage and dreams are a reality that they too can achieved. A sense of adventure is lacking in today's youth. Technology has taken them away from real world of wonder. Here is a chance to kindle those dreams with a real life story of someone they could relate to.
I would like to tell the story and the lessons learned to a wider audience of young readers. In order to reach my goal of publishing the book, I have enlisted an illustrator, editor, proof reader and designer to produce an attractive and informative book. They have deferred compensation until the book is published. The manuscript and illustrations are complete and await publication. This book fills a void in the presentations made to young people in their formative years about commitment, perseverence, dreams and goal setting. Told by a real-life perspective by a living example of these traits by a Hall of Fame sailor, author and inspirational speaker who set out to give an object lesson to his grand children. (see :YouTube-Captain Bill Pinkney. (Also visit www.captainbillpinkney.com for a short excerpt from the story.)

The funding will go toward initial publication, marketing , distribution and compensation of professionals involved.
the goal of having the book in print by mid-February would allow for greater exposure during Black History Month and beyond. It is my belief that this story is beneficial for youngsters regardless of their backgrounds. My hope is that the support shown for my Voyage will again appear for this effort to show young people that they need not feel like outsiders and can achieve their dreams.
Thank you!
P.S. 27 April 2022 the book has left the printer and is on the way to our distribution center in Puerto Rico. The job is almost done but we now have to fulfill our  obligations to our suppliers  who deferred  payment and respond to those who have pre-ordered the book. A GREAT THANK  YOU to those who have helped us get to this point and a request to others who can help us across the finish line.
