In Why I Love Dreaming, Nicole Alexander writes a love letter to the duality of the mind. Through explorations of dreams--in both senses of the word--readers are taken on a journey full of anxiety and optimism, reflections and manifestations, longing and trust. This debut collection gives a tender hug to the intricacies of our interior worlds, and begs you to do the same.

This collection represents my first subconscious attempt to nurture myself through writing. As a teenager, I struggled to express my emotions openly, so I turned to poetry as an outlet. After a long hiatus to explore other creative interests, a period of despair at the end of 2022 reignited my love for writing. I gave myself permission to access my inner world more deeply, and Why I Love Dreaming is the natural result of that allowance.

Writing this book has been a profound journey in honoring the contradictions and nuances within my emotional landscape. My vivid dreams, both while asleep and awake, have guided me through this process. My hope is that by sharing these poems, others will find a sense of relief, connection, and acceptance. Why I Love Dreaming is an invitation for readers to look inward without judgment, using my own introspection as a guide.

To bring this project to life, I need your support! The funds raised will cover production costs at For The Birds Trapped In Airports, payment for the talented book designer Blake Duncanson, and the expenses for an exciting book launch in Brooklyn this September.
