Hi, my name is Laura Pangrazio and I have recently completed writing and illustrating my very first children's book! My book is called 'Scarlett the Sneaky Sock' and is about an 'odd' sock who dreams big and pursues a life outside of the sock drawer to become a 'Sock-er player'. There are many underlying themes that children can relate to, including individuality, determination and following your dreams!
I have always loved to read, write and draw. I have been drawing since I was little and did a minor in Art at university. I am also a primary school teacher and mother. I have been working for at least a year on this project, which just started as a poem I wrote about a sock escaping the laundry (I think I had done a few loads that particular day). It snowballed into a full on project that I really enjoyed. I then started to play around with illustrations and learned how to draw a cute and animated sock character in several different entertaining scenarios. I love drawing!
Being a teacher and a mum has given me so many opportunities to learn about children and creative expression. I believe children and parents will love reading my book and absorb valuable lessons and laughs from it.
I researched options for publication recently and was approved for publication, which is so exciting! The next step is covering the start-up costs for publication and printing.
To get Scarlett out into the world, I need help. Once, the proverbial (soccer) ball is rolling, I hope to continue writing and illustrating children's books, some of which I hope to aim at children with Autism. I believe reading is a fantastic way to learn, create and build connections with children.
To incentivize you, I am offering a free signed book to anyone who donates $250 or more towards my publishing plan!
No donation is too small, and every little bit counts if you are able to help.
Let's fill the world with positivity and creativity!
