Would you join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Marie-Christine Giordano Dance Company Inc, and any donation will help make an impact on our under-served community children. Thank YOU in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
From 2017 on , every school year , MCGD has brought between 10 and 15 free lecture demonstrations/workshops to Brooklyn and Lower East Side Public Schools. Each event is free to the school and the students. All students enrolled in the school are welcome to attend. I created this program and it is implemented by my team and myself. As of Feb. 2022 our program is still going strong as we went online during the whole pandemic restrictions. During these virtual 55 minute sessions, we present a short dance performance of our repertoire designed for the screen, facilitate a Q&A/dialogue on dance, teach African Dance movements and finally lead the students through a movement experience focused on the use of the breath and meditative process. The workshop evolves into a collaboration of movement, music and sound which sweave between stressors, calmness, and joy.
Our program is based on our strong beliefs that dance is a much-needed expressive, healing, unifying, and disciplined art form. We present pieces that explore the landscape of the human heart as well as current societal challenges and core values of the human experience. We use dance to convey positive messages of hope, accomplishment, inclusiveness, and community that go well beyond language and cultural differences. We also aim at educating youth about the role and history of dance as an art form. We care very much about inspiring youth to work hard to follow their dreams. The discipline and focus necessary to become a dancer are tools that can lead to any achievement. MCGD dancers take their love of dance & technical proficiency to the schools with the intention of making a lasting impression on the students.
