Rose’s Scoliosis Surgery
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Randi Fasnacht. I am organizing a fundraiser to offset the bills for Rose Riley’s Anterior Scoliosis Correction Surgery. It’s been such a long, winding road to get here. At age 8, Rose was diagnosed with Idiopathic Scoliosis. At that time, her curve was at 12 degrees. A few years after, the doctors decided she needed to wear a brace for 23 hours a day. It slowed the growth of the curve somewhat, but as she grew, the curve did too. Several years later, when her curve was 48 degrees, she participated in another type of scoliosis care for 18 months, CLEAR Chiropractic Treatment. During the treatment, there was some delay in the curve’s growth, but when she stopped it, her curve continued to grow. It is now at 60 degrees and may continue at 1-2 degrees per year. Rose was determined to correct her spine and through her research, she found the Institute for Spine and Scoliosis (www.spineandscoliosis.com) and their innovative surgery, Anterior Scoliosis Correction. This type of surgery is safer and less invasive than Spinal Fusion which was previously recommended. After two years of research and consultation, Rose’s surgery is scheduled for May 10, 2023, in New Brunswick, NJ.
Rose’s mother, Sara, was able to get a loan to pay for the $60,000 surgeon fees which aren’t covered by insurance. This fundraiser is to help pay for all the other expenses; hospital bills, meals, and travel expenses. In addition, Rose will participate in pre-and post-surgery rehab through iLab (www.Ilab-ASC.com).
Sara is self-employed and will have no income during Rose’s hospital stay and recovery. Rose also works at Target to help offset her room and board at Florida State University. She may not be able to return to work until late summer or fall.
We all appreciate any donation you are able to give and hope you will feel included in this part of Rose’s journey. This is a miraculous opportunity for her! I will send updates as I receive them and will, of course, post the results of the surgery. Thank you for your support!♥️
