Medical treatment for Sarah

Donation protected
On 14th March 2006 our beloved daughter Sarah was born. Her birth was fulfilled with many blessing but most important, it was a proof of real love.
Sarah was born with Spina Bifida. This is a birth defect that affects the ability to walk and to control the bowels. With only 15 hours of being born, Sara had to go under an emergency surgery to have a bypass valve put in place to prevent hydrocephalus. Unlike other parents, we were very fortunate to know in advance that Sarah was going to be born with this disability. Knowing this allowed us to prepare ourselves in the best way to deal with her condition.
Sarah is now 9 years old, she´s a very smart girl, very happy, she goes to school like any other child of her age. Due to financial matters she has stopped her therapy but she practices a lot of swimming as a way of physical therapy. She walks with crutches but we hope that someday she will be able to walk by herself. She receives medical care at a children’s hospital in Los Angeles, CA, where long ago she went under surgery to correct the position of her feet at no cost.
For us, as her parents, it is very clear in our minds that we have to do our best and further to help Sara to become an independent girl and above all to be a happy person.
With the advances of medical technology we have now the opportunity to treat Sarah with an implant of stem cells. This treatment has proved to be very effective improving the control of the bowels in people with spina bifida.
It is available at the Better Being Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. This hospital together with the Shenzhen Beike BIOTECHNOLOGY carry out this treatment using stem cells from umbilical cord and it is complemented with physical therapy, acupuncture and with the guidance of a nutritionist. The cost of this treatment is around $35,000.
We have organized several activities and fund raisers to collect this money but we are still short $12,000.
With this letter we want to reach your hearts and request your help to put together these $12,000 that we still need to travel to Bangkok and give Sarah the opportunity to improve her life.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you very much for taking the time to read these lines and thanks in advance for your great support to our daughter’s stem cells treatment.
Sincerely,
Patricia Rodriguez & Erik Lizarzaburo
