Cancer sucks

update: today 7/3 Carol did not have surgery. Her team has deliberated all weekend going back and forth about the risks associated with the medication she received for the liver cancer. After meeting with the oncology radiologist it was determined that the best course of action would be for Carol to receive 5 consecutive trigger point radiation treatments. Today she had a CT scan so the team can map out the treatment. Her and Uncle will be discharged soon as she has been stable, the medical team is working hard on starting treatments next week

Hi my name is Jason I’m fundraising for my wife’s aunt Carol, who is also her best friend. Aunt Carol was diagnosed with cancer in her liver on 05/10/23. Carol is also a longtime diabetic so she already had some damage and medical complications . We were told the cancer is beside the valve that pumps blood through the body, Drs. were very up front about the situation as you can imagine doesn’t sound good.

Carol started chemotherapy got through the first 2 rounds, had a scan everything thing was looking good, nothing had spread, we were optimistic that it was reacting well to treatment. 2 1/2 weeks later, what started as a debilitating migraine, followed by severe stomach issues, horrible confusion, just lost and completely not herself by any means.

My wife convinced Carol(she’s stubborn) it was serious and she needed the ER, my wife’s an angel the way she takes care of people; which is something she learned from Auntie growing up.

After some tests it was found the cancer has metastasized to her brain and the mass is bleeding. She has to have brain surgery in Sioux Falls Monday July 3, which is 3+hrs from Redfield the town we live in.

Carol is a fighter and my wife is the strongest person I know and she won’t leave her side. Carol has always been a caregiver for everyone and Her and Uncle would never ask for anything from anyone(that’s why we are putting this together). Carol has always worked full time at Ace, Uncle will have lost wages being caregiver so

anything will help with the extreme costs associated with cancer treatments and travel.
