Service dog for chronic illness
Donation protected
My name is Lea, I am chronically ill with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and chronic anxiety. None of which are life threatening, but they greatly impact my day to day life.
With the support of my mom, doctor, therapist, and close friends/family, I have made the decision to get a service dog prospect (a puppy that will be trained to be my next service dog), sometime within the next two years, or approximately a year before my current service dog, Olivia, retires.
I got my dog Olivia when she was only about 8 weeks old. I was in third grade. A few years she later became my at home service dog to help me cope and deal with my illnesses. Now, I am a sophomore in high school and Olivia is six years old.
Olivia has saved my life and turned it around for the better, living with chronic illnesses is extremely difficult, but I’ve been so grateful to have her by my side. Although she is amazing I am planning to retire her within the next few years, as service dogs usually retire between 6-10 years old, and she is slowly developing a limp in one of her legs. Olivia is amazing at her job, But sometime within the next few years, she deserves to retire and live the rest of her years being pampered as a pet.
I need help raising money to be able to afford a prospect. Although I will be working all summer, there just isn’t any way I’m going to be able to raise the amount of money I need in the time frame I have.
Thank you for reading, and thank you if you choose to donate, have an amazing rest of your day :)
