The Power of ONE!

Help ESD Global Inc., a US non-profit, make empowerment self-defense classes available to women and girls worldwide by supporting thirty women from around the globe to attend the second annual ESD Global Bootcamp this summer, where they will learn to design and deliver a ten-hour empowerment self-defense course to women in their home communities.

Empowerment self-defense (ESD) is a violence prevention system developed by women for women for the situations women face and the way women fight.

ESD teaches physical self-defense skills, verbal boundary setting and de-escalation skills, and mental skills that women use to interrupt violence while it is happening. Gender-based violence is a worldwide epidemic.

According to UN Women, 70% of women will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime.

Empowerment self-defense is the one proven violence prevention intervention that:

-- Reduces the incidence of gender-based violence by up to 50% and increases a woman’s chance of de-escalating a bad situation before it turns violent.

-- Provides women with tools to end a physical assault while it is happening.

-- Reduces the time it takes for survivors of violence to heal, and increases women's self-esteem and efficacy in their academic, professional and social endeavors.

Empowerment self-defense can be taught locally and cost-effectively by trained women in ten – twenty hours in communities worldwide. ESD Global trains women to teach empowerment self-defense in their communities.

YOU are the power of one. Your one contribution is key to bringing thirty women from thirteen countries and ten US states to ESD Global Bootcamp this summer.

Your share on your social network is key to spreading the power of one. One more contribution means one more woman trained, one more community reached and many acts of violence prevented.
