I live in a world of anxiety. New places, new people, any unfamiliar (and even things that are familiar) are a constant fear to me because I can’t see them the way everyone else can. There have been some extremely scary moments in my life, simply because I couldn’t see what was happening around me.
I’ve lived with low vision for years and I’ve learned how to adjust to it…but It doesn’t mean it has been an easy road. I used to use a white cane, but when someone tried to “help” me by telling me to cross a road as a semi was driving towards me, I only avoided injury because someone else tackled me to the ground to save me. It’s hard for me to rely on others after numerous instances like this have happened in my life.
When I tried eSight glasses, I was completely overwhelmed. I actually started to cry because it was the first time in years I could see the faces of people in the room! Although I haven’t been able to read easily in years, with eSight I was reading at a size smaller then NEWSPAPER PRINT! I was completely blown away.
This is the first device in years that gives me hope again. As a massage therapy instructor, eSight will definitely help me instruct my students. eSight will let me actually SEE MY STUDENT’S HANDS instead of gauging their progress by touch alone. I’ll be able to SEE MY HUSBAND’S FACE and all of the amazing dishes that he makes for dinner. I will actually be able to LOOK UP to a night' s sky and SEE THE STARS. I hope my excitement about these glasses is coming through, because I don’t know how else to say it. eSight will give me back the freedom to feel confident in any situation. That means the world to me.
