Short Summary

Hi, my name is Luis Alicea. I’m a filmmaker studying at Emerson College. PSYCHATRIX is my senior BFA thesis film, which is the culmination of everything I’ve learned as a film student and the most ambitious project I’ve created so far.

I am working on this project with my roommate, Colten Gottlob. He is my Executive Producer as well as my Director of Photography. We are both seniors, and this will be our final project here at Emerson.

PSYCHATRIX is a 20-minute short film about two spoiled siblings who are haunted by their guilt and stalked by a "The Watcher" who weaponizes technology to manipulate and destroy them. It’s terrifying, emotional, and deeply personal. A story about grief, resentment, and the things we hide from one another.

With your support, this film can move beyond my imagination and into festivals, where it can find an audience.

What We Need & What You Get

We’re asking for $7,500 to make PSYCHATRIX possible. Here’s where your contributions go:

Airbnb/Location Rental - The entire film takes place in one home. We need a house that can match the vibe of the story, that can simultaneously work as housing for our cast and crew during production.

Food for Cast and Crew - We'll be filming long days and nights, and feeding everyone is crucial to keeping our set a fun, energetic, and safe environment. This ensures that no one has to pay for food as they dedicate themselves to the project.

Production Design - Making sure the house itself feels like a character. Matching the vibe we need for the story to work.

Transportation - Since this is a student film and low budget, we will have to travel to find a House that works with our budget. This means we will have to travel, and we do not want to have anyone have to cover the cost of their own transportation so they can purely dedicate their time to the film

If we don’t reach our entire goal, every dollar will still go directly into production. We’ll scale back if needed, but the film will get made.

The Impact

PSYCHATRIX is my BFA thesis film at Emerson College, the capstone project that represents the accumulation of everything I’ve learned as a filmmaker. This film is my opportunity to take all of the skills, late nights, and creative energy I’ve put into Emerson and channel them into an ambitious and soulful story.

By contributing, you’re helping launch the career of a filmmaker who lives and breathes for his craft. Funding this BFA thesis film gives me one more chance to direct a project with a strong budget before my post-college career begins, and I dream of taking off with a project I can be incredibly proud of.
