Help Andrew With Medical Bills

My name is Ken, a friend of Andrew's (aka Ern T. Chen). On July 30, our dear friend Andrew (Ern) had a stroke and fell unconscious. He was taken to Maimonides hospital in Brooklyn where he has remained since then. 

Andrew (Ern) is now out of the ICU and is currently stable, but needs to be on a ventilator for now. He has substantial weakness with controlling the right side of his body. He suffered some brain damage but thankfully, he does not appear to have major cognitive deficiencies. The doctor said how much Andrew (Ern) will recover will depend on how his physical therapy goes. It is going to be a long and challenging road for Andrew (Ern). 

This long road also means a long hospital stay for Andrew (Ern). Unfortunately, Andrew (Ern) had minimal insurance coverage for a major event like this, and he needs our help now. 

Our goal is to raise $20,000 for Andrew (Ern) by the end of August. Update: We have reached $20,000. Thank you so much. This is great news. I raised the target to $30,000. The average hospital cost for a stroke can reach as high as $30,000-40,000, and the average cost of rehab can be as high as $20,000. 

He is going to urgently need this money to pay for his critical care and the physical therapy that will allow him to regain the motor functions he lost. This is an urgent situation. 

Those of us who know Andrew (Ern) will know that he has a huge heart, that he would not hesitate to help anyone who needed help, whether it is money, a ride, checking in on loved ones, or a friendly ear to listen to you. (his compassion also extends to animals; he recently found a cat on the street who was in bad shape and brought it to the vet and paid for the bills without a second thought)
Andrew (Ern) also does not have family here in the States, so we especially need to be there for him now.  Put simply, if the roles were reversed, he would do the same for any of us. Please let's all come together and help support Andrew (Ern) as much as we can at his time of need. Thank you. 

Update (10/04/2021): We have raised more than $30k! Thank you very much! Andrew (Ern) truly appreciates your thoughtfulness and generosity. He will communicate more as his condition improves - he is still in the hospital, but will be transferred soon to a rehab facility.  
One of Andrew's (Ern's) close trusted friends Bik Yiu Wong (also my cousin and Andrew's co-worker) will be overseeing the withdrawal and management of funds while Andrew is recovering. She has tirelessly and generously worked to support him during his time of need.
