Help Save Red

Shenanigans, AKA Red, is a beloved member of the barn family at Elevation Stables. He is a 16 year old thoroughbred and a very sweet boy who loves his mama and playing over the fence with his friends in the pasture. Today he needs a little help.
Red’s owner Sharon was faced with the decision today to end Red’s life or try and save her beloved friend at great cost. She chose love. I’m asking you to help ease some of her burden.
Recently Red had an accident and suffered a traumatic injury to his fetlock, which has become infected within the joint. He is in a lot of pain and only able to stand on three legs. As of Friday 12/8 he’s been transported to Bend Equine Medical Center for treatment.
Treatment involves sedation, surgery to flush the joint, catheter placement and weeks of in-hospital care with frequent re-flushing, antibiotics, etc.
The *ballpark* estimate is $10,000-$15,000 just to treat the infection. He may need additional surgeries to repair ligament damage down the road, and there are no guarantees. But if we can save the joint, we can save our boy.
Sharon has been our friend for a long time and while I know she’ll do what she has to do this is a huge cost to shoulder unexpectedly and alone. Please join me in helping with some of that burden.
Donation goals will be updated as treatment costs become clearer. Any funds beyond those necessary to cover Red’s care will be passed on to local equine non-profits.
