Elsie came to Canada in 2018 in hopes of finding a way to support her family back home in the Philippines. Me and Esther got to know her early on and have been friends since then.

Last Monday May 20th she unfortunately had an accident and broke both bones in her left forearm. She immediately went to the ER at Sunnybrook hospital. When she arrived, the hospital was quite full but with no alternative she decided to stay. The people at the ER admission said she would have to wait until the following day for surgery and with no rooms available, she spent the night on a bed in the hallway.

Unfortunately there were multiple delays and she was not admitted into surgery until 4 days later. She ended up having to reinforce both bones with metal plating. The total cost of the hospital stay and additional fees came to $20,000 and the surgery cost $4,000. There used to be government support programs for difficult circumstances such as these but was discontinued during the pandemic.

Elsie is a wonderful person who is humble and will go out of her way to help anyone in need. She always has a positive attitude and tries to give her best in all aspects of life. Unfortunately, the cost of this medical bill is more than she is able to handle and has put her in a very difficult position. Any amount to help Elsie will be appreciated.
