This is my son, his name is David. I was very young when he was born, so as an adoptee myself, I placed him up for adoption when he was 3 days old. It broke my heart to let him go, but I trusted Catholic Charities that he will be placed in a loving home and have the life I was too young to provide for him. He was placed in a warm, caring, lovely family. He had an older sister and all of his needs were met. There was never a day that I didn’t wonder and worry about him….it was the most difficult decsion that I had to live with but I never regretted it. I always knew in my heart it was the right thing to do.
Fast forward to 1997 he died by suicide…no one saw it coming & his adopted family was devastated. When I learned of his death my heart broke…he was handsome, funny, personable, he had it all.
Suicide is unforgiving, there are so many unanswered questions…the pain never leaves you, you just learn to live with it.
I don’t want his death to be in vane. My intention is to help others…David’s house is an environment for families to begin to heal. David’s house is a 501/c/3 non-for profit that relies solely on the generousity of others. Please help; Is there a family you know that needs time and space to heal from the autrocity of “death by suicide”? Please have them connect with me. They are welcome to stay free of charge as long as needed. David’s House provides families a safe place to get away from everything, to be together and begin to heal as a family.
