Our story begins in 2005 when as newlyweds, we applied for Domingo's residency through our marriage. It took 5 years for his inital application to get approved.
At that time, we were notified by our attorney that Domingo will most likely be asked to leave the USA due to his undocumented status in the United States. Our family, our friends, and our church were devastated by the news, We looked at every single option we could possibly take to avoid having to leave the life we knew. But, that was not how our story went. In September 2011, an immigration court judge ruled that Domingo would have to leave the United States and serve a penalty of 10 years in his home country.
In December 2011, we left to Costa Rica. We were brokenhearted but hopeful that we could apply for a 601 waiver which is a waiver on the 10 year ban out of the country. We met even more delays due to financial difficulties and life situations. Even our attorney at the time said that the chances that our 601 waiver would be approved were slim because we relocated together as a family....... less than a 20% chance.
We decided to trust in God. Due to the help of financial donations to our family and fundraisers, we were able to self-file(meaning without legal representation) the 601 waiver in October 2014. Yesterday, March 23. 2015, our waiver was approved!!!! God is faithful.
Now we face our next challenge..... relocating our family of 5 back to the United States. This is very costly and because the rate of pay here in Costa Rica is very low(approx. $2 an hour average), we need your help.
The fees that we need to cover in the next 1-2 months are as follows:
Medical exam fee for Domingo required for his visa: $150
Traveling/Document fees for Domingo in San Jose for visa appointment, medical visit, and documents required from the justice department here in Costa Rica: $400
And finally, the relocation fee back to the United States for all 5 of us, including flights, buses, luggage fees, country departure tax, etc.
We thank you in advance for helping us financially. God has made a miracle and now we will reunite with our extended family and friends. We also request your continued prayers.
