My daughter Marlee was diagnosed with cervical cancer in April, shortly after her 34th birthday.
After a whirlwind of appointments - an MRI, PET scan, blood draws and examinations, she was told the tumor could be removed via surgery. This news was delivered on April 26th, and surgery was booked for June 3rd.
On May 31st Marlee travelled to Vancouver for surgery. At the pre-op consultation, she was examined again and told she was no longer a candidate for surgery. She was sent home.
A new plan was formed and now the cancer will be treated with a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. These treatments are administered five days a week, for five to seven weeks. This means Marlee will be temporarily relocating to Kelowna for treatment.
Our goal is to support Marlee while she is in treatment so she can focus on getting better with as little stress as possible.
