Help Josh Fight for His Recovery After a Traumatic Brain Injury

On August 28th, Josh, his girlfriend Haylee, and his family were visiting his grandpa’s memorial spot — a meaningful place for them all. What started as a day of remembrance turned into every family’s worst nightmare when Josh suffered a severe head injury.

He was life flighted to Boise, Idaho, and admitted to the Neuro Trauma Center, where he spent 8 days in intensive care. During that time, Josh was placed in a coma and endured two brain surgeries after suffering a skull fracture, an epidural hematoma, and a 20% brain shift.

Through incredible strength and the support of his loved ones, Josh made it through those critical first days. He was then transported by ambulance — an eight-hour journey — to Portland, Oregon, where he has continued treatment at Vibra Specialty Hospital. Josh is currently in a minimally aware coma stage, showing small but hopeful signs as he fights to recover. Recently, he received the promising news that he has been accepted into the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country. There, he will begin the next step of his recovery with intensive therapy designed to help him heal and regain independence.

Haylee has been by Josh’s side every moment since the accident, putting work on hold so she can focus fully on his care and recovery. Her dedication and love for Josh are unwavering, but with the mounting medical bills, travel costs, and everyday expenses, this journey has placed an enormous financial strain on both of them.
