Hi! My Name is Imania Detry. In January 2016 myself and 6 other women from my organization Ayodele Drum and Dance will be taking a journey to West Africa! As we continue on our mission to foster our community through the study of African dance, music, and culture; I will be engaging with some of best Master teachers , traditional dance companies, and individual educators and historians in Guinea and Senegal West Africa. This is a 2 week intense training camp and learning about the beauties of the cultures of both countries.
Throughout the year through Ayodele I give back to the community of Chicago what has been passed down and taught to me by teaching dance classes, school visits, shows and more. I would be so excited and eager to be able to go back to Africa and experience more.!!
