Hey, I’m Hailey. I’m 16 and I am currently staying at Seattle Children’s Hospital because I have Aplastic Anemia and PNH. Aplastic Anemia is when my immune system kills my bone marrow, so my bone marrow doesn’t produce red and white blood cells. PNH is when one cell doesn’t have a protein and creates more bad cells that kill my good blood cells.

I have been affected in many ways, like not being able to continue high school, and I am very isolated. I have doctor’s appointments every day, and I have to get blood transfusions and platelets more than once a week. I want to raise awareness for these blood disorders because they are not common and not many people know about them. They can affect a person in so many ways. I lose weight very easily and feel weak all the time. I cannot be around people because I can get sick very easily since the doctors have to get rid of my immune system.

I now have to start my journey through chemo and lots of antibiotics that will make me feel worse so I can get better. I have lost all my hair as well and it’s very hard to adjust. Any donation counts it helps out me and my mom so much! Thank you for all the support; it means a lot!
