I'm doing something a little dramatic (and slightly terrifying )… I’m shaving my head!
My 17 year old son, Kingsley was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma in April last year. He underwent 9 rounds of chemo and 6 weeks of proton beam therapy. He has now completed his treatment and is on maintenance chemo for 1-2 years. I want to raise money for some truly incredible places and charities that have meant the world to my family during the hardest chapter of our lives.
When Kingsley was going through cancer treatment, we were surrounded by the most amazing people who cared for him with so much kindness, support and compassion. Because of that, I’ll be fundraising for:
The Royal Marsden Sutton Teenage Cancer Trust Unit - who looked after Kingsley so beautifully during his treatment and continue to support him through maintenance
Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital Brighton Paediatric Oncology Day Unit -another incredible team who have supported Kingsley and our family since day 1 of his cancer journey
Alice’s Arc – a charity funding vital research into finding a cure for rhabdomyosarcoma, the rare and aggressive cancer Kingsley faced. More research means more hope for families like ours.
I’ll also be donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust, so it can help make wigs for children and young people who lose their hair during treatment.
This fundraiser is incredibly close to my heart. If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean so much to us. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would be amazing too
Thank you for supporting me (and my soon-to-be very shiny head ). Every penny raised will help make a difference for children and their loved ones facing cancer.
Lots of love,
Kath
