Hi, my name is Michelle Martinez, and I am starting a GoFundMe for a special coworker who experienced an unfortunate event in his life recently. Robert Masterson is a hardworking mail carrier in Aledo, TX. On January 3, 2024, Robert was driving to work, during poor weather conditions, when his personal postal vehicle veered off the road while taking the Aledo exit to Highway 1187. This unfortunate incident caused him to lose control of his vehicle, which rolled over several times, and required the use of a hydraulic rescue tool, also known as jaws of life, to remove Robert from his vehicle. After a quick response from emergency personnel, Robert was transported to Harris Methodist and remained in ICU. During his time in the ICU, Robert was paralyzed from his neck down to his feet. His body required an extensive surgery to help relieve pressure in his brain and to repair damage that was caused during the accident. As his surgery was in progress, Robert's family had to patiently wait not knowing the full extent of his injuries and whether he will ever have movement in his limbs again. With prayer and faith in the medical staff, Robert's family was informed that he had some movement in his hands but still did not have any movement or feelings in his lower extremities. Fortunately, Robert is now experiencing some movement in his arms but will need extensive physical therapy as he tries to regain feeling in his lower body. Robert is an amazing person and he is ready to face this uphill battle with courage, love, and support from others who also believe he will one day walk again. Robert has recently been accepted into a very notable physical therapy home to continue his healing journey. Unfortunately, Robert's finances have been impacted immensely by this unforeseen accident. He has incurred a substantial amount of medical fees, and with the lack of a continual paycheck, there will be a huge burden on his family. This GoFundMe will help alleviate some of their worries and the struggles they will face in the future.
