CENTRO DE REHABILITACIÓN FAUNA SILVESTRE - P SACHA

Donation protected

In June 2018, a little ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) that was rescued by a citizen, arrived to Dr. Eliana Molineros’ office. The rescuer saw the animal in Vinces city. It was inside a box in a store waiting to be sold. The little “tigrillo”, as we call it in this region, was named SACHA. And this is how our journey began.
SACHA was only a few days old when we first saw him. He barely walked and could hardly see. His 5 senses were still developing. This cub needed special food, it needed to be fed every 2-3 hours, and was kept in an incubator because he couldn’t keep a stable temperature.
We accepted the challenge of taking care of him and push this little warrior to fight for his recovery. We gave the best treatment we could at the time and that effort paid off. He started evolving very well. 2 weeks later ZAFIRA arrived; another ocelot only 2 days older than Sacha, she arrived from Pedro Carbo, Guayas province. Zafira had severe burn injuries on her little paws, she was on a plantation farm which the owners decided to clear the scrub and sow. Its important to mention that these type of injuries in wildlife are very common.
Weeks later a baby howler monkey arrived, she was named VICENTA. Inmediately, we realized there’s a big issue affecting a part of nature: WIDLIFE. And it’s caused by us, mankind.
Sacha and Zafira were sent to a rehabilitation center. Vicenta, is at another animal shelter and rehabilitation center, in which a group of howler monkeys (including her) is forming. These monkeys arrived just like her, waiting to learn and develop their abilities in order for them to be free once again.
Since June 2018 we have received more than 700 animals, some of them have died few hours after arriving; others have recovered and were released back to their home, WILDERNESS.
However, some animals can never be released back to nature again. So, for them we have another  option: permanent shelter. The current challenge is to build and supply (buy isolettes, tables, big cages, among other useful materials) the WILDLIFE SHELTER AND REHABILITATION CENTER for all the species we are working hard to take care of.
