Ryan's England Seminar
Beginning my life as a college student has been rough, but has definitely been full of blessings. I'm a Counseling Major at Trinity College of Florida, working two jobs as a writing tutor and as an assistant in my schools Financial Aid office. Just this semester, God called me out of my comfort zone at home and now I live on campus, using both of those jobs to pay for housing. The money is tight, but I can clearly see how God has opened up so many doorways and granted me so many opportunities.
One of these opportunities is the chance to attend a seminar in England this summer to learn all about C.S. Lewis. The credit for attending that seminar takes me one step closer to graduating Trinity College of Florida with Honors, since it counts as an Honor credit. To be in the Honors Program, I must have at least a 3.6 GPA, but I have an outstanding 3.8 GPA in my sophomore year! This experience-building trip costs $1,775, but that is covered in a working scholarship that I am in the process of earning by working as Dr. Woodward's (The President of the C.S. Lewis Society and the Honors Program) office assistant.
However, there is an extension to that trip: An opportunity to spend one week preaching the Gospel in the UK! This is a faith-building, missionary journey that will help train me to minister here in the States. Evangelism of this type is very important, no matter where it is, but to have the opportunity to do it across cultures is an experience I hope to gain plenty of knowledge about. I refuse to pass it up, but it adds an extra $500 to the cost of the trip and it is not covered by my scholarship.
I also need to pay for the plane ticket, which will cost me around $1,400. As much as I love being able to pay for things on my own, I know that $1,900 is way too much for me to raise alone in the amount of time I have. The money from both of my jobs is needed to finish paying for school, where I currently owe $1,300.
However, I know one thing for sure:
$1,900 < God.
In fact, that amount of money is NOTHING compared to Him. I have complete faith that God can and will provide for me if it's His will.
So please help me accomplish this goal of $1,900. If you feel compelled by the Spirit, don't reject it! If you feel God calling you to help me out, please don't ignore him. This means the world to me to have this opportunity, and it will only build me up higher and allow me to grow further than I could imagine otherwise. God is able.
