Providing support to Mr. Singh and his family

Hi, my name is Jaskirat Gill, and I'm running this fundraiser to support my family friend Mr. Singh*.

Mr. Singh came to Canada in 2011 from India. He was working hard to become economically stable and provide a living for his family. However, in 2019, he was diagnosed with Advanced Metastatic Thyroid Cancer. He has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation rounds at Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre in London, Ontario.

 

Due to the multiple complications caused by thyroid cancer, he is unable to consume any food orally and has a G tube fitted in his stomach. Recently, he was admitted to Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, complaining of pain in the spine region. His tumor has grown in size and compressed his spine, causing paralysis in the legs and numbness in his arms. Dr. Sukhjeet Dhillon (Palliative Care) measured Mr. Singh's prognosis as being a few weeks.

 

In these difficult conditions, he has no family member in Canada to look after him. His wife and son are currently in India and in the process of becoming permanent residents. Their case has been expedited via Member of Parliament requests, and it is estimated that they will get their visa in the first week of May 2022.

 

Mr. Singh currently has minimal funds and negligible assets at his disposal, as he has not been able to work due to the illness. Although he is surviving on government benefits, they are not enough to cover current and upcoming expenses. Therefore, whatever is raised will go towards covering the family's travel costs as well as daily expenses of Mr. Singh and his family once they arrive in Canada.
