Providing Support for the Family of Terry Moore
Donation protected
Please join the MSU Friends of Terry Moore to bring support to his Family after his passing.
On September 27th, 2023, Terry lost his battle to hodgkin's lymphoma. And as happens in many families, medical bills have surpassed what insurance provided for his care. A monetary donation of any amount will be met with deep gratitude and appreciation from the Moore family. Donations will be managed by Terry's sister, Lisa Moore.
Terry was beloved by those who knew him and was touched by his kindness, generosity of heart, and immense talent in music that brought joy to everyone. We were fortunate to have called him friend, and will always cherish our memories of "T Moore." ❤️
“Terry Lee Moore, 71, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Born the youngest son of Richard and Luetta Moore in Ash Grove, Missouri, Terry was a family man who maintained a strong relationship with his parents and siblings until his death. A graduate of Missouri State University’s music education program and a gifted pianist, Terry shared his gift and love of music with elementary and high school students as a music teacher and choral director in the Decatur City School system in Decatur, Alabama, as well as participated in community theatre as pianist and Musical Director in both Decatur and Tuscaloosa. Prior to teaching, he spent time as an accountant for Bunge Corporation - a job that would land him in Decatur, where he met his beloved wife Kaye Hazle Moore and raised his daughters, Ashley and Erin. After retiring from teaching in 2012, Terry and Kaye relocated to Tuscaloosa, AL, where he lived out a dream job of accompanying a musical theatre program as the Staff Accompanist for the University of Alabama’s Theatre and Dance program. During all of these years and moves, Terry also served as pianist in various churches, namely First Baptist Church Decatur where he accompanied for 27 years. Above all else, playing in the church gave him the greatest satisfaction for sharing his gift.
In all of his positions and cities, Terry left a lasting impression on anyone he met. He was a kind soul who never met a stranger and always had enough care to share beyond his family and close friends. Love was doled out in heaps, whether sweet or tough.
Terry is survived by his girls - Kaye, Ashley (Tyler), Erin, and granddaughter Rayleigh; his mother, Luetta; his sister Lisa Moore; his brother, Randy Moore (Terry); and six nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard, and brother, Rick.
A service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Decatur, AL at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, buy a friend a cup of coffee or a meal.”
