Providing care for my mom
Donation protected
Virginia Georgopoulou Jamil is a powerful mom of 5. Last summer she was diagnosed with stage 3 small cell lung cancer. After 4 months of grueling chemo and radiation, she was declared in remission on December 3rd, 2021. We got to celebrate another beautiful Christmas as well as her 65th birthday as a family. The beginning of January, she went for an MRI of her brain. A couple of weeks later, we received the news that the cancer had spread to her brain. She will be starting yet another 10 sessions of radiation in hopes of a solution.
This is where the fundraiser comes in! My name is Alexis and I'm the youngest of the Jamil family. I live in Windsor (4 hours away) as a daycare supervisor and a caregiver for seniors. I decided to take a leave of absence to be the primary caregiver for my mom and support my dad. With my line of work, working from home just isn't an option. I have applied for Compassionate Leave through the government but it only covers 55% of my wages. I'm asking for any kind of financial assistance so that I can be fully committed to my parents. During difficult times, money should not be an obstacle or a worry to anybody.
Any money raised above the amount will be donated to my mother's charity of choice.
Thank you in advanced and we are forever grateful for the emotional support our loved ones have offered during these last 6 months.
With love and gratitude,
Alexis Eleni Jamil
