Help Seattle’s Unhoused Survive The Winter This Thanksgiving – Warmth, Shelter & Hygiene Kits
Why This Matters
Thanksgiving is a time for family, warmth, and comfort—but for many unhoused individuals in Seattle, this week feels especially lonely and harsh. While some gather around tables, others are struggling to stay warm in tents under relentless rain.
I live in Belltown, and every day I see people who are kind, resilient, and deserving of the basics—warm socks, dry blankets, and hygiene essentials.
Given I don't go home for Thanksgiving, each year I use the time off to create delicious meals or treats and hand them out throughout the neighborhood. But this year is already quite cold and very rainy leaving the people in these neighborhoods cold, wet, and without basic needs.
What I’m Doing
I’m cooking a Thanksgiving meal for 150 people:
Roasted turkey with gravy
A Palestinian rice and lamb dish (sharing my heritage while feeding those in need)
A homemade chocolate chip cookie for dessert
Each person will get 1/3 pound of turkey, two cups of lamb and rice and a chocolate chip cookie. I'll be handing these out in reusable containers (if they'd like to keep them) along with cutlery and water bottles.
But food is just the beginning. My goal is to create 150 survival kits for people living on the streets and in encampments. Each kit will include thermal socks, gloves, hats, ponchos, blankets, hygiene items, and more—everything needed to stay warm, dry, and healthy during Seattle’s harsh winter.
How Your Donation Helps
Every milestone adds a critical item for all 150 people:
$200 – Thermal socks for 150 people
$300 – Add beanies
$800 – Add gloves
$900 – Add rain ponchos
$1,000 – Add emergency blankets
$1,500 – Add hygiene kits
$1,800 – Add fleece blankets
$3,300 – Add sleeping bags
$6,300 – Add winter coats
$6,700 – Add waterproof bags
Every contribution moves us closer to providing full survival kits for 150 people. Together, we can bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who need it most this Thanksgiving.
