PROVIDE VETERINARY CARE FOR ANIMALS OF FRENCH POLYNESIA

Donation protected
Animal protection associations estimate that there are almost 500,000 dogs in French Polynesia. Almost twice as many as the 300,000 inhabitants, spread over 76 inhabited islands.

The fact that the majority of these dogs roam around the islands gives rise to a number of problems:
  • Animal abuse
  • Road accidents
  • Risk of bites from the general public
  • Transmission of disease to humans and other animals

It's to prevent this and help the animals that veterinarians and associations on the most populated islands work every day.

But what about the other islands of French Polynesia, whether smaller or more remote?

That's where we want to take action!

VET'IROA FENUA is a group of traveling veterinarians in French Polynesia. We all work in clinics in Tahiti, but also organize missions to islands where there are no vets.

The idea is to travel to the most isolated islands of Polynesia and  help the Tuamotu’s inhabitants who had never, or not at all, received a visit from a vet in years.

Since mid-February, we have been sailing to the Marquesas and Tuamotu islands to treat and sterilize these animals. The aim is to be able to go where planes don't go, so that all the animals can have access to treatment.

But these treatments and sterilizations come at a cost that many pet owners can't afford. This is where YOUR DONATIONS are ESSENTIAL.

By way of example:

We have set the price of a bitch sterilization at 20,000 xpf.

We'd like your donations to cover at least half of this amount, with the balance to be paid by the owners. In the interests of fairness and accountability, all owners will have to pay the same amount.

If we raise 1,000,000 xpf (i.e. $8,500), we can sterilize 100 bitches at 10,000 xpf.

If we raise 2,000,000 xpf ($17,000), we can sterilize 200 bitches at 10,000 xpf, or lower the price to 5,000 xpf for 100 bitches.

If we get more, we'll be able to sterilize and treat more animals and repeat the mission in a few months' time on new islands.

You can follow the mission on our Vet'iroa Fenua Facebook page, where we'll be posting a report after each visit to an island.

Mauruuru roa to all.

We're counting on you.
