Provide support for Michael Giacopelli

Michael Giacopelli, my godson, was in serious single-car accident on November 5, 2021. He sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and will be in the hospital for what will most likely be long-term. He has made incredible strides in the last 7 weeks. He is quite a warrior. He was unconscious for several weeks and is now breathing on his own. As of a few days ago, Michael has verbally communicated that he is cold, told his parent's he loved them and expressed his desire to go home.

Prior to this he was able to blow kisses, give hugs and utilize his middle finger, demonstrating that the Michael that we know and love is still with us, but has many challenges ahead on his path to recovery.

Michael is the best kind of person. He gets his work ethic and strength from his father and his kindness and humor from his mom. Over the last few weeks, he has had a few setbacks with bouts with pneumonia and other infections, but we know he has the right amount of grit, determination and stubbornness to make the best possible recovery.

As Michael can get very agitated, the nurses will let Chuck sneak Michael’s dog Reilly in to visit. Once Michael is near Rielly, he calms down.

His parents, Barb Willbond Giacopelli and Charles "Chuck" Giacopelli, are dedicating 100 percent of their time to Michael's care. Once Michael hits a couple more milestones, he will be moved to a long-term care facility for rehabilitation, where Rielly will be able to visit full time to help aid in his recovery.

Any funds that are raised will go toward expenses incurred by Michael’s parents as they make themselves available to him while he is on his journey to recovery.
