Hi, my name is Mohamed and on behalf of my team we are raising funds to help the Victims of the Earthquake in Morocco to settle in safe and secure housing before the winter. Each structure cost $7K and houses between 2-4 families.

What happened?

On September 8, 2023, a devastating earthquake struck in the Atlas Mountains in western Morocco, with a magnitude of 6.8. The earthquake caused more than 2,900 deaths and 5,500 injuries, making it one of the deadliest earthquakes in the country's history leaving thousands of people homeless and in need of urgent assistance.

What are the challenges?

According to the United Nations, the lack of shelter is leading to overcrowding or people sleeping in the open air, exposing them to safety and security risks. The cold weather and the risk of aftershocks are also adding to the suffering of the survivors. The UN estimates that more than 100,000 people are in need of shelter and other basic services. The Moroccan government and humanitarian agencies are working to provide relief, but the scale of the disaster is overwhelming, and more resources are needed.

How are we tackling this?

When we heard about the earthquake that hit Morocco, we felt compelled to take action and help our colleagues, partners, and the people who were affected by this tragedy. We believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live, especially in times of crisis. We are working on the ground with friends in on a temporary housing initiative. It is essentially a safe area to temporary house 2- 4 families this winter providing them access to shelter, safe environment and more importantly schooling for their children.
