Provide safe drinking water for school children
Donation protected
Hi everyone! Our names are Burcu and Bec. We are teachers from Melbourne, Australia and are currently volunteering at Lotus Light Center for Community Advancement in Phum o Villiage, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
This is a free english language school for the community, that is run purely by donations. Students attend the school from 8-10 and 2-4, in addition to their primary school.
The founder of this community centre, Sarath, and his family have built the school from the ground up and endeavour to have access to clean drinking water within the school. Currently, students come to school thirsty and dehydrated, often asking for water.
Sarath is an incredibly hard working and generous person. He teaches during the day and continues to extend facilities for students, such as a library, in order to improve student advancement. His wife makes 3 meals a day for volunteers who offer their help to the school, and this is solely run by a daily donation from volunteers.
We would love your help to make his dreams of providing access to clean drinking water, an essential necessity that we take for granted, a reality. He has sought for a quote of $1600 USD for the pump, well and filter, but is unable to fund it himself. This will be a complete surprise for him at the end of our volunteering journey on the 8th of February!
Burcu and I instead of birthday presents this year, would love you to donate instead of any gift to us. Any amount of money would be so appreciated, thank you in advance!!!
