Provide Mobility to a Canadian Champion
Donation protected
There are very few words to describe the grit and determination that Rob Hughes displays on a regular basis. Suffering from Cerebral Palsy, Rob has not let his disabilities slow him down. Rob is an 18 time Canadian Champion, 7 time Pan-Am Champion and 4 time World Champion in the sport of (para) track & field. He represented Canada in the 2000 Para-Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
Rob is also a two diploma graduate from college (Sheridan, Lambton).
Being bound to a wheelchair, Rob's mobility and independence is dependant on his motorized scooter, which Rob needs to transport himself to the grocery store, doctor, etc. Places that we take for granted to get to.
His scooter though, is limiting for him as he is unable to use the scooter for accessible transportation as it cannot be safely secured to the vehicle.
In order for Rob to function independently, he is in need of a motorized wheelchair which can provide mobility as well as allow Rob to travel using accessible transportation.
Therefore, this GoFundMe page is to raise funds so that Rob can get a new wheelchair, to give his mobility back to him.
The cost of this device is very high, starting at $8595 before any seat options are chosen, The customization begins after the base price.
All proceeds will go directly toward the cost of this device through True North Home Health who is providing a discount for the device.
I appreciate your support in helping Rob. He represented our Country with grace and success. Time for us to represent him.
