My name is Andre Fowles, and I’m a Jamaican chef based in New York. Last year, my partner and I started a foundation - One Pot Foundation - to help build food resilience in downtown Kingston — creating opportunities for communities to grow, cook, and share healthy food.
Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica on October 28, and the devastation across the southern and western parts of the island has been heartbreaking. Homes have been destroyed, livelihoods disrupted, and communities that were already struggling are now in crisis.
I’ll be traveling to Jamaica on November 4 to assist World Central Kitchen in their relief efforts — feeding those most affected and supporting the teams on the ground. But beyond that, I want to do more. I want to use my voice and my platform to directly help individuals and families who need it most — whether that means providing food, helping to rebuild a roof, or replacing essential household items and appliances lost in the storm.
Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting people in Jamaica who are working to get back on their feet, starting with people I've worked with in the past, people who I've met through my work with the Rockhouse Foundation, and during my days as a young chef in Montego Bay.
No donation is too small — your support will make a real difference to real families.
Jamaica has always shown the world strength, spirit, and love. Now it’s our turn to give some of that love back.
Thank you for standing with us.
