Our Story on Behalf of the McKissack & Moore Families
On January 12, 2025, our hearts were shattered when Kenneth “Eric” McKissack of Dothan, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly due to injuries from an accidental fall. He was just 51 years old. Eric was so much more than a husband, son, and father. He was a hero, a friend who never said no when someone needed help, and a father who poured every ounce of love into his children.
Today, we are reaching out to ask for help, not for us, but for the most important people in Eric’s life: his children, Kaydence and Hunter.
Eric’s sudden passing has left his children not only grieving but also deeply traumatized. Their world changed in an instant. These bright, loving kids are now facing emotional challenges no child should ever endure alone. To help them begin to heal, we are raising funds to enroll them in a specialized learning center that offers a trauma-supportive education facility which provides individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s learning needs.
Eric was a proud graduate of Northview High School and a talented athlete who excelled as a baseball pitcher. He was passionate about fishing, hunting, and always being there for those he loved. At the time of his passing, he worked as an HVAC Supervisor for Bob Woodall’s Commercial, where he was respected for his work ethic and kindness.
More than anything, Eric’s greatest legacy is his family, especially his children. Now they need a community to step in, just as Eric would have done for any of us.
Your donation will go directly to covering:
I. Enrollment in a trauma-supportive learning center
II. Counseling and mental health services
III. Educational materials and tutoring
IV. Transportation and related needs
In this time of unimaginable grief, your generosity can bring these kids a sense of safety, routine, and hope. No gift is too small. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach others who can.
Let’s show Eric’s children the same love and compassion he gave so freely to others.
With deepest gratitude,
The McKissack & Moore Families
