We fed 2000 families! New fundraiser link below!
Donation protected
UPDATE (25 April) - Thank you to all of our supporters for making this campaign so successful. We were able to distribute food rations to over 2,100 families thanks to your generosity. As the lockdown in Nepal continues to be extended, and as COVID cases continue to rise we are receiving more requests for support than we can fill. We have started a new campaign to raise funds for another 1,000 families. Please spread the word and THANK YOU AGAIN.

UPDATE (13 April) - WOW. We crossed the $10,000 mark with donations of all sizes from across the world. A huge thanks to every single person who donated from the bottom of our hearts.
We have supported over 500 families to date, with a goal of distributing supplies to another 400 families this week. Thanks to you we have well exceeded even our most ambitious goals, and thousands of vulnerable families have access to nutritious food, soap, and cooking oil. You have made an incredible difference in the lives of people who need it the most.
For now, we have decided to pause the campaign for a few days. We want to wait and focus on the logistics of procuring, packaging, and distributing 400+ food packages, and to also monitor the situation as the lockdown approaches the stated April 15th deadline. For those who still want to contribute, please hang tight and we will either resume this campaign or start an entirely new one as the need demands.
Once again - thank you! THOUSANDS of people have benefited from your kindness and generosity. We are humbled and grateful.
- The Yellow House team.

UPDATE (7 April) - We reached our initial goal of supporting 400 vulnerable families. But we know this crisis is far from over - so we are leaving this campaign open to get a head start on another distribution of food next week. Please continue to spread the word, and stay tuned here for more updates!

Nepal is currently entering our third week of full lockdown in response to the growing COVID-19 crisis. The most marginalized groups living in the Kathmandu valley are experiencing a profound period of economic hardship.
Daily wage, informal sector, seasonal, and migrant workers are stranded without any source of income or food. They are restricted from traveling back to their communities, and lack the documentation or political connections to appear on government relief aid lists.
After the 2015 earthquake, an informal group of friends joined together to create one of the most effective grassroots aid groups in the country. The 'Yellow House' team has once again come together to provide direct support to people in need. We have identified 300 vulnerable families, and have provided an initial distribution of food supplies. Our goal is to keep supporting these families, and hopefully increase our reach in the coming week.
This fundraiser is designed to accept international donations into a US bank account that will then be sent directly to our accounts and accounts of our suppliers in Nepal. We are all volunteer, and 100% of funds will go directly to purchasing and distributing food packets. We will provide a transparent accounting of all expenditures and families reached for any donor upon request.
This week, our goal is to provide another 400 dry food kits to support families that have no other options during this critical period. If we exceed our goals, we will increase distribution and reach more families. Given the uncertainty of the lock down, we will utilize all funds raised within one week.
One food package will feed an average family of four for about a week. It costs 1550 Rs (or ~ 13 USD) and includes:
10 kg of Rice - 500 Rs
2 kg Lentils - 200 Rs
0.5 l of Oil - 80 Rs
1 pack of Salt - 20 Rs
200 gr of Tea - 80 Rs
1 kg of Sugar - 80 Rs
9+ kg of Fresh Vegetables, including potatoes, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, kursani, carrots and more - 500 Rs
Packaging and transport - 90 Rs
TOTAL 1550 Rs
We are making great efforts to purchase local produce whenever possible, to ensure that your support benefits local farmers, local businesses, and vulnerable families alike.
Unlike after the earthquake in 2015, mobility and distribution is extremely challenging and involves high personal risks for volunteers. This means we have to work slowly, and only with young and healthy volunteers who live alone.
The distribution of the food packages happens in partnership with the local municipality government, at the official ward offices. The municipality officials keep records of the families that received help to ensure that there is no duplication with traditional relief aid.
A donation of just $13 will ensure that a family of four can eat healthy food this week. Our goal is to provide 300 families with food by the end of this week - help us raise 3900 USD by donating and sharing!
